MEMBER THOMAS J. DONNELLY INC. COMPLETES INSULATION WORK AT THE PLAZA HOTEL

We are pleased to announce that member contractor, Thomas J. Donnelly Inc. (Donnelly), has completed mechanical and plumbing insulation work in New York City’s prestigious Plaza Hotel, located at 768 Fifth Avenue, Central Park South in New York City. The Plaza Hotel reopened in the spring of 2008 after a $400 million restoration to convert the 100 year old hotel into a hotel-condominium.

The project presented Donnelly with an abbreviated work schedule, demanding contractors and subcontractors to complete the job swiftly; the crew began their work in the summer of 2006 and finished in the spring of 2008. The team also encountered extremely tight working quarters in many areas of the project. Donnelly completed the HVAC and plumbing insulation in the hotel. The crew also had to enclose a majority of the duct systems with two-hour fire-rated blankets.

El-Ad Properties NY LLC, New York’s premier real estate organization and owner of The Plaza Hotel hired F.W. Sims, Inc. (Sims), a West Babylon heating and air conditioning firm and Bass Plumbing & Heating Corporation (Bass), a plumbing, heating, and fire suppression company for the restoration of the hotel. Sims and Bass hired Donnelly for two separate insulation contracts.
